Source text - Hebrew על כביש חיפה – דמשק, ליד הגשר החוצה את הירדן, הקימו שלטונות המנדט הצרפתי בסוריה, בשנות העשרים, תחנת ביקורת ומכס במעבר לשטח המנדט הבריטי בא"י. בזמן מלחמת העולם השניה, היה זה ציר חשוב לכוחות הברית בדרכם ממצרים לעירק.
בית המכס העליון ניצב על שפתה של רמת הגולן, במרחק של שניים וחצי ק"מ מגשר "בנות יעקב" החוצה את הירדן ובגובה 250 מ' מעליו, בצומת של שני כבישים: הציר המרכזי לגולן מחיפה והגליל והכביש היורד לכנרת וטבריה.
המתחם צופה למערב על הרי הגליל ועיירת האומנים ראש פינה ובצפון על הר החרמון המושלג בחורף.
האתר מהווה בסיס נוח לטיולים בצפון ובדרום רמת הגולן – 40 דק', טיולים לגליל ולשמורת עמק החולה – 30 דק', ראש פינה – 20 דקות, צפת – 40 דקות, טבריה והכנרת – 30 דקות.
במתחם שלושה מבנים ששימשו כמשרדים, מגורים ואורווה לאנשי המכס. המבנים שנבנו בסגנון אדריכלות הבאו האוס מיועדים לשימור.
תאור הפרוייקט
מלון בוטיק בית המכס יכיל 19 יחידות אירוח ושטחים ציבוריים לבילוי ואירועים אינטימיים, לקבוצות, למטיילים ולנופשים במקום. מבנים חדשים ישלימו את המבנים הקיימים ליצירת מתחם בנוי סביב חצר מרכזית (חאן).
- בניינים לשימור B ו- C בעלי שתי קומות, יכילו 11 יחידות אירוח בגדלים שבין 50-25 מ"ר נטו ליחידה, חלקם עם מרפסות.
- מבנה דו-קומתי חדש במעלה ההר, יכיל עוד 8 יחידות אירוח בשטח של 34 מ"ר נטו ליחידה. כל היחידות עם מרפסות צופות לנוף. צמוד למבנה זה, מבנה חד קומתי לשימור – A, ובו חדר לאירועים אינטימיים מחובר לנוף ולחצר. על גגו מרפסת נוף הצופה להרי הגליל, לנהר הירדן ולראש פינה.
- מבנה חד קומתי חדש משלים את תיחום החצר ובו: לובי, קבלה, מסעדה, פאב, אולם כנסים, חדר כושר, מטבח, שירותים, מלתחות ומחסנים.
- פרגולות עשויות עץ ואבן מחברות בין המבנים ותוחמות את בריכת הנוי שבמרכזה בר חיצוני.
- בינות לעצי האיקליפטוס הישנים, יהיו פינות ישיבה אינטימיות.
- בריכת השחיה תמצא בפינה הצפונית צופת נוף ומחוברת לאזור הבילוי.
- האתר יופרד מהכביש בגבעה נטועה עצי זית.
Translation - English During the 1920s, the French mandate in Syria established a customs control station on the road between Haifa and Damascus, at the crossing point into the British mandate territory in Israel, near the bridge that crosses the Jordan River. This was an important route for the allied forces on their way from Egypt to Iraq during WWII.
Upper Beit Hameches (Customs House) is located at the tip of the Golan Heights, about 2.5 km from the "Bnot Yaakov" bridge, which crosses the Jordan River 250 meters above it, at the intersection of two roads: the main route to the Golan Heights from Haifa and Galilee (road no. 91), and the road descending to the Sea of Galilee and Tiberius (road no 888).
The site overlooks the hills of Galilee and Rosh Pinna – the artists’ colony – in the West, and Mount Hermon in the north, a picturesque snow covered mountain in winter.
Serving as a convenient base point for trips, this location is 40 minutes away from the northern and southern parts of the Golan Heights, 30 minutes from Galilee and the Hula Valley, 20 minutes from Rosh Pinna, 40 minutes from Safed, and 30 minutes from Tiberius and the Sea of Galilee.
The site includes three buildings that served as offices, residence and stable for the Customs personnel in the past. The Bauhaus styled buildings are intended for preservation.
Project Description
The Customs House boutique hotel will include 19 guest units and public areas for recreation and intimate events, for groups, travelers and vacationers. The new structures will complement the existing buildings to create a Khan-like complex, built around a central yard.
- The two-story buildings B and C intended for preservation will include 11 guest units of varying sizes, between 25 and 50 square meters net per unit, some of which will have balconies.
- A new two-story building located uphill will include 8 guest units of 34 square meters net per unit. These units will have balconies overlooking the landscape. The one-story building A for preservation is adjacent to this building and includes an intimate events hall connected to the scenery and garden. A viewing terrace on the building’s rooftop overlooks the hills of Galilee, the Jordan River and Rosh Pinna.
- A new one-story structure completes the yard boundaries and includes: a lobby, reception, restaurant, bar, conference hall, gym, kitchen, bathrooms, cloakrooms and storage.
- Pergolas made of wood and stone connect the buildings and define the boundaries of the ornamental pool which includes a bar at its center.
- Intimate seating areas will be scattered among the old eucalyptus trees.
- The swimming pool will be located in the northern corner, overlooking the scenery and connected to the recreation area.
- The site will be separated from the road by a hill with olive trees.
