Imperial Suites’ first American hotel revels in sheer, unabashed luxury. Acquired by the Hong Kong-based hotel company in 1988, the Beaux Arts-style former Grosvenor Hotel now offers Asia’s utmost standard of service in Midtown Manhattan. The tradition that began in 1928 with the original Pearl Hotel in Hong Kong now extends to a host of other fine hostelries around the world.
Once past the five-bayed Fifth Avenue facade of hand-carved limestone, guests of The Pearl check in at a small, discreet front desk. From the reception area to the restaurants, all public spaces surround visitors with the swirling romance of Art Nouveau styling, a mode that reached its first height of glory in late nineteenth century Paris. Works of art by such French masters as Majorelle, Gallé, Mercier, and Gaillard set off handmade European carpets, marble floors and staircases, mahogany and burl wood wall panelling and glittering chandeliers.
The opulence of Paris in an earlier age infuses the private quarters as well. Among 250 rooms and suites, the largest measures over XXX. All are spacious and filled with custom-designed furnishings-such as Art Nouveau cabinets to hide remote-control TV’s, king-sized hardwood head-boards with curvaceous Belle Epoque designs, billowing balloon shades covering the windows, and cherubs and flowers garlanding the lamps.
Marble baths soothe travellers with spacious showers, XXX tubs, bidets, robes, slippers, and Lanvin toiletries displayed on white china trays. Messages arrive at a guest’s front door on a silver platter carried by a page in white gloves and pillbox hat. Such extraordinary service echoes the Imperial Suites standard in everything they do from same day laundry and dry cleaning to daily newspaper delivery, citywide beepers, valet parking, and room service around the clock.

Il primo hotel americano della catena Imperial Suites festeggia in un lusso assoluto e sfrenato. Acquistato nel 1988 dalla compagnia alberghiera con sede a Hong Kong, l’ex Grosvenor Hotel in stile Beaux Arts offre ora servizi della massima qualità asiatica a Midtown Manhattan. Nata nel 1928 con l’originale Pearl Hotel di Hong Kong, la tradizione si estende ora a molti altri alberghi in tutto il mondo.
Una volta oltrepassato l’ingresso di Fifth Avenue a cinque campate in pietra scolpita a mano, gli ospiti del The Pearl si registrano ad una piccola e riservata reception. Dall’area di ricevimento ai ristoranti, tutti gli spazi pubblici avvolgono i clienti in un romantico vortice di Art Nouveau, stile che ha raggiunto l’apice della sua gloria a Parigi nel tardo XIX secolo. Capolavori di maestri francesi quali Majorelle, Gallé, Mercier e Gaillard esaltano i tappeti europei fatti a mano, i pavimenti e le scalinate in marmo, i rivestimenti delle pareti in mogano e legno nodato e gli scintillanti candelabri.
Le camere private sono anch’esse pervase dalla stessa opulenza di una Parigi antica. Tra le 250 camere e suite la più grande supera i XXX, ma tutte sono spaziose e presentano un arredamento su misura: scompartimenti in stile Art Nouveau che celano televisori a controllo remoto, testiere matrimoniali in legno duro con modanature curve stile Belle Epoque, finestre coperte da tende ondulate rigonfie e lampade con decorazioni floreali e putti.
Bagni in marmo rilassano gli ospiti con docce ampie, vasche da XXX, bidè, accappatoi, ciabatte ed articoli da toeletta Lanvin in mostra su bianchi vassoi in porcellana. Un fattorino che indossa guanti bianchi e cappello rotondo consegna i messaggi all’ingresso su un vassoio d’argento. Dal bucato di tutti i giorni al lavaggio a secco, alla consegna giornaliera dei quotidiani, al servizio cercapersone, all’addetto al parcheggio fino ad arrivare al servizio in camera 24 ore su 24: un servizio tanto straordinario rispecchia fedelmente gli standard dell’Imperial Suites.

Source text - French Bernard de Nonancourt a coutume de dire :”Le Champagne millésimé est la caractéristique d’une récolte, le Brut sans année celui d’une Maison”.
C’est que en effet, en Champagne comme dans tout autre vignoble , les vendanges varient chaque année tant en qualité qu’en quantité. Pour tempérer ces inégalités, LAURENT-PERRIER a toujours adopté la politique courageuse de limiter strictement les expéditions de ses vins des grandes années. De telle sorte qu’en conservant en stock une part très importante de millésimes, ceux-ci puissent venir à point s’assembler aux vins d’une année moins équilibrée et donc assurer au Brut L.P. sa qualité constante.
S’il n’est de bon Champagne que de bons crus, il faut préciser qu’en Champagne viticole l’échelle des crus, fixée par la loi, s’étale de 80% à 100%. LAURENT-PERRIER n’utilise pour ses assemblages que des crus dont la moyenne s’établit très largement au-dessus de 90%.
Mais seul un très large stock, tout particulièrement de “vins de réserve” qui proviennent des grandes années millésimées, peut permettre à LAURENT-PERRIER d’assurer la continuité de la qualité de ses cuvées et du style qui lui est propre, singulièrement pour le Brut L.P.
Fin, délicat, fruité, ce Brut est le symbole du Champagne dans le goût actuel des connaisseurs. C’est une harmonie subtile de finesse , d’élégance et de distinction.
Le Brut L.P. est le vin de toutes les joies. Comme pour chacun des produits de la gamme, LAURENT-PERRIER a attaché un soin jaloux à sa présentation. Notre Brut est l’un des derniers à se présenter sous un habillage étain qui sertit le col de la bouteille d’une manière irréprochable. Comme pour le Vintage, la bouteille de Brut s’orne d’un médaillon.

Il fatto è che, in Champagne così come in ogni altro vigneto, le vendemmie variano di anno in anno tanto in qualità che in quantità. Per ridurre tali differenze, LAURENT-PERRIER ha sempre adottato la coraggiosa politica di limitare rigorosamente le vendite dei vini di grande annata. Conservando una parte consistente delle migliori annate ed utilizzandole per l’assemblaggio dei vini di un’annata meno fortunata, riesce in tal modo ad assicurare al Brut L.P. una qualità costante.
Se è vero che un grande champagne deve necessariamente provenire da vigneti pregiati, occorre precisare che nella provincia viticola della Champagne la classificazione dei vigneti, fissata per legge, va dall’80% al 100%. LAURENT-PERRIER per i suoi assemblaggi utilizza esclusivamente dei vigneti la cui media si aggira di gran lunga al di sopra del 90%.
Soltanto scorte abbondanti, in particolare quelle dei “vini riserva” di grandi annate millesimate, possono tuttavia permettere a LAURENT-PERRIER di assicurare una qualità costante alle cuvée e allo stile che lo caratterizza, in particolar modo per il Brut L.P.
Raffinato, delicato, fruttato, questo Brut è il simbolo dello Champagne a detta degli intenditori. Una sottile armonia di delicatezza, eleganza e distinzione.
Il Brut L.P. è il vino di ogni gioia. Come per ogni prodotto della cantina, LAURENT-PERRIER ha curato la presentazione in ogni minimo dettaglio. Il nostro Brut è uno degli ultimi a presentarsi con una capsula in stagno che avvolge il collo della bottiglia in modo impeccabile. Come per il Vintage, un medaglione orna la bottiglia del Brut.
