I have been translating, editing, and proofreading for several years.
Though my focus is primarily on literary and journalistic translation, I am also available to translate other texts.
My translation of Ece Temelkuran's Book of the Edge, a collection of poetry, is forthcoming by BOA Editions, Ltd., in spring 2010.
In 2007, I received the Anna Akhmatova Fellowship for Younger Translators.
That same year, my translation of Chapter 7 ("Nigar") of Ayse Onal's Honour Killing: Stories of Men Who Killed, a book of journalism exploring honor killings in Turkey, was published by Saqi Books.
Other translations have been published in several literary journals, including Words Without Borders, The New Review of Literature, Basalt, Golden Handcuffs, and Atlanta Review.
In Spring 2004, I taught a senior-level course on Literary Translation from Turkish to English at Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey.
I have served on the editing staffs of the magazines Poetry International and Bricolage.
