Poll: My newest client... Thread poster: ProZ.com Staff

I’ve been around for a while (more years than I care to admit) and I have built a solid client base but I must confess that I never know when a one-off job will turn into repeat business. Experience has proved me wrong either way many a time. I always try to provide the same high quality service to each project, be it large or small, a one-off project or long term collaboration. This being said, I believe my newest client was a one-off, but only the future will tell… | | | I don't know | Apr 10, 2020 |
It depends on the language combination and specialisation too. My newest client asked for an EN | | | Kaisa I Canada Local time: 21:12 English to Finnish + ... Probably one-off | Apr 10, 2020 |
My newest client offered me a one-off job to evaluate subtitler candidates' tests, while also asking for my own rates for future subtitling work. They offered a decent pay for the evaluation job, so I did that, but I'm afraid my rates scared them off from any other collaboration.

The best thing is to have no expectations whatsoever. This way one cannot be dissapointed. I had clients that appeared rock solid for a continuos cooperation and never heard from them again. On the other hand there are a few clients that use my services on a regular basis for years now and the first contact was supposed to be for a one time job. It is always hard to evaluate someone "new". Good day to all | | | Aline Amorim Brazil Local time: 22:12 English to Portuguese + ... I don't know | Apr 10, 2020 |
I don't know It depends on the language combination. I work with English Brazilian Portugese combination and it depends on the specialisation too. | | | I don't know | Apr 10, 2020 |
In fact, I just got two new clients. One is a large agency, the other one I never heard of before. They are both very nice with decent rates, so I hope to keep them, but we'll see. | | | neilmac Spain Local time: 02:12 Spanish to English + ...
Nor do I know off the top of my head which of my current clients is the most recent. It's not an issue. And off topic, I was expecting a slow month in April due to the current situation, but as it happens this (supposedly holiday) weekend I am now suddenly and unexpectedly up to my ears in work. I must be doing something right…

Probably just a one-off. I get occasional requests from direct clients with a one-time need.
