Set Realistic Goals

Ask Customers What They Want

Make Rewards Attainable and Realistic
Any incentive you offer must be realistically attainable within a reasonable time period. Your customers are diverse; consequently, your program needs to acknowledge their uniqueness by speaking differently to each segment. Stimulate Integration
A loyalty program is not a silver bullet to solve a company's core weakness. That phrase, made famous by Bill Clinton’s advisor James Carville back in the 1990s, still resonates today. It doesn’t take a genius to see that, in many countries, the retail industry - especially that part of the industry dealing in consumer durables like kitchen white goods, furniture, electronic entertainment and communications - is in trouble.
Across Europe the consumer durables retail sector is grappling with the toxic combination of higher costs, lower margins, and ferocious competition for dwindling consumer demand. There is now also a real danger of rising inflation adding to the pressure on consumers and retailers alike. Our report on Ireland sums up the core problems succinctly: ‘Unemployment remains high… and the government’s austerity measures are limiting disposable incomes… putting pressure on retailers and consumers alike’.
It’s the same story in Spain, with high unemployment, falling disposable income, austerity measures and a reluctance of banks to give access to loans. As our report on the Netherlands notes, the fate of some facets of the industry is linked closely to that of the housing market, while our report on France makes the point that even success stories, like that of the tablet computer, erode market share for PCs and thus for those retailers focused on that segment. Competition from online sales also challenges the traditional high street – a signal for retailers to adapt their strategies.
There are some exceptions to the gloomy trend. Unsurprisingly, of all the European markets that we review, demand for consumer durables in Germany is showing healthy growth. And, in the US, a rebound of existing home sales could stimulate the sale of household appliances and furniture. However, in both markets persistently higher inflation driven by rising energy prices could dissuade consumers from purchasing durable goods.
Brazil is confirming its status as a leading BRIC nation, alongside Russia, India and China, as all its consumer durables indicators register robust growth, reflecting the country’s overall economic performance and rising household incomes – and that could also spell good news for foreign exporters targeting Brazil.

A tour planned around the major districts allows one to appreciate its history, people and rich cultural diversity in an optimal period of time. Here is the best of Singapore not to be missed.
Singapore's architectural goldmine. Let yourself be whisked back in time to 1819, when Sir Stamford Raffles first stepped ashore and the Union Jack was raised. Still exuding a strong air of colonialism, are well restored government buildings, cathedrals and churches, notably Singapore Cricket Club , once a sports center for the British colonists. Esplanade Park makes for a pleasant stroll, while learning about the martyrs and heroes, for whom the various memorials in the park have been built. The city's finest museums also lie nestled in and around the district including the Singapore Art Museum, Asian Civilisations Museum, Singapore Philatelic Museum and Singapore History Museum. Just at the eastern outskirts of the colonial core stands the renowned Raffles Hotel. A modest museum on the third floor retells its legend.
This is the very origin of Singapore's prosperity, with the Merlion (the city's tourism icon) steadfastly standing guard at the mouth of the river. Quaint bridges span the river, ranging from the elegant Anderson Bridge to the simple Ord Bridge. Once a victim of redevelopment, this ethnic enclave still holds pockets of old, dilapidated buildings where Singaporeans continue to practice age-old trades. Durante il periodo natalizio, Orchard Road è sempre uno spettacolo imperdibile di colori, luci e addobbi sfavillanti.
In passato oggetto di interventi di riqualificazione, questo enclave etnico presenta ancora oggi edifici vecchi e cadenti nei quali la gente di Singapore continua a mercanteggiare come un tempo. Altri edifici sono stati invece riportati al loro aspetto originario, come la serie di negozi tipici della Tanjong Pagar Conservation Area. Per un tuffo nel cuore della cultura cinese, niente di meglio di una visita ad una sala da tè e poi alla Chinaman Scholar’s Gallery, per sbirciare dentro una tipica abitazione della borghesia cinese degli anni '20. Le strade affollate pullulano di gente, in particolare prima del Capodanno Cinese, quando spettacoli di danze del drago riempiono il quartiere di luci e colori. Da non perdere è anche il mix eclettico di moschee e templi: tra questi, l’ascetico Nagore Durgha Shrine, il sontuoso Sri Mariamman ed il solenne Thian Hock Keng.
La Sultan Mosque è il fiore all’occhiello di questo quartiere che conserva l’eredità culturale della comunità musulmana di Singapore. Le strade sono costeggiate da ristoranti halal e caffetterie che servono i piatti tradizionali della cucina indiana e malese. Durante il mese sacro del Ramadan, le bancarelle di cibo sono ancora più numerose in preparazione dell’interruzione del digiuno al calar del tramonto. Qui lo shopping é un piacevole cambiamento rispetto alle lussuose boutiques di Orchard Road, con negozi che offrono prodotti di fattura malese, indonesiana e mediorientale: una profusione di tessuti, tappeti, antichità, gioielli, manufatti, panieri ed essenze senz’alcool. Da non perdere sono una visita da Istana Kampung Glam ed una passeggiata nel più antico cimitero malese di Singapore.
Un’esplosione di colore, soprattutto la domenica e durante le principali festività indù, come Thaipusam e Deepavali.Ovunque sono presenti tracce di induismo, dal sontuoso Tempio Veeramukaliamman alle raffigurazioni di divinità indù. Mustafa Centre offre in un unico negozio praticamente tutto quello che serve ed è una meta obbligata per chi è a caccia di ottimi affari.

The Earth Charter is an international declaration of fundamental values and principles considered useful by its supporters for building a just, sustainable, and peaceful global society in the 21st century. Created by a global consultation process, and endorsed by organizations representing millions of people, the Charter "seeks to inspire in all peoples a sense of global interdependence and shared responsibility for the well-being of the human family, the greater community of life, and future generations." It calls upon humanity to help create a global partnership at a critical juncture in history. The Earth Charter's ethical vision proposes that environmental protection, human rights, equitable human development, and peace are interdependent and indivisible. The Charter attempts to provide a new framework for thinking about and addressing these issues. The Earth Charter Initiative organization exists to promote the Charter.
History
The idea of the Earth Charter originated in 1987, when the United Nations World Commission on Environment and Development called for a new charter to guide the transition to sustainable development. In 1992, the need for a charter was urged by then-Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali at the Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit, but the time for such a declaration was not believed to be right. The Rio Declaration became the statement of the achievable consensus at that time. In 1994, Maurice Strong (Chairman of the Earth Summit) and Mikhail Gorbachev, working through organizations they each founded (the Earth Council and Green Cross International respectively), restarted the Earth Charter as a civil society initiative, with the help of the government of theNetherlands.
Strong, no longer in charge of any organization related to the charter, still gives advice and support.
Drafting
The drafting of the text was done during a six-year worldwide consultation process (1994–2000), overseen by the independent Earth Charter Commission, which was convened by Strong and Gorbachev with the purpose of developing a global consensus on values and principles for a sustainable future. The Commission continues to serve as the steward of the Earth Charter text.
The final text of the Earth Charter was approved at a meeting of the Earth Charter Commission at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris in March 2000. The official launch was on 29 June 2000 in a ceremony at The Peace Palace in The Hague, Netherlands. Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands attended the ceremony.
Contents
The approximately 2,400 word document is divided into sections (called pillars), which have sixteen main principles containing sixty-one supporting principles. The document opens with a preamble and ends with a conclusion entitled “The Way Forward”.
Preamble
“We stand at a critical moment in Earth's history, a time when humanity must choose its future. As the world becomes increasingly interdependent and fragile, the future at once holds great peril and great promise. To move forward we must recognize that in the midst of a magnificent diversity of cultures and life forms we are one human family and one Earth community with a common destiny. We must join together to bring forth a sustainable global society founded on respect for nature, universal human rights, economic justice, and a culture of peace. Towards this end, it is imperative that we, the peoples of Earth, declare our responsibility to one another, to the greater community of life, and to future generations.”
Principles
The four pillars and sixteen principles of the Earth Charter are:
I. Respect and Care for the Community of Life
1. Respect Earth and life in all its diversity.
2. Care for the community of life with understanding, compassion and love.
3. Build democratic societies that are just, participatory, sustainable and peaceful.
4. Secure Earth's bounty and beauty for present and future generations.
II. Ecological Integrity
5. Protect and restore the integrity of Earth's ecological systems, with special concern for biological diversity and the natural processes that sustain life.
6. Prevent harm as the best method of environmental protection and, when knowledge is limited, apply a precautionary approach.
7. Adopt patterns of production, consumption and reproduction that safeguard Earth's regenerative capacities, human rights and community well-being.
8. Advance the study of ecological sustainability and promote the open exchange and wide application of the knowledge acquired.
III. Social and Economic Justice
9. Eradicate poverty as an ethical, social and environmental imperative.
10. Ensure that economic activities and institutions at all levels promote human development in an equitable and sustainable manner.
a. Promote the equitable distribution of wealth within nations and among nations.
b. Enhance the intellectual, financial, technical, and social resources of developing nations, and relieve them of onerous international debt.
c. Ensure that all trade supports sustainable resource use, environmental protection, and progressive labor standards.
d. Require multinational corporations and international financial organizations to act transparently in the public good, and hold them accountable for the consequences of their activities.
11. Affirm gender equality and equity as prerequisites to sustainable development and ensure universal access to education, health care and economic opportunity.
12. Uphold the right of all, without discrimination, to a natural and social environment supportive of human dignity, bodily health and spiritual well-being, with special attention to the rights of indigenous peoples and minorities.
IV. Democracy, Nonviolence, and Peace
13. Strengthen democratic institutions at all levels, and provide transparency and accountability in governance, inclusive participation in decision-making, and access to justice.
14. Integrate into formal education and lifelong learning the knowledge, values and skills needed for a sustainable way of life.
15. Treat all living beings with respect and consideration.
16. Promote a culture of tolerance, nonviolence and peace.
Reaction
The Charter has been formally endorsed by organizations representing millions of people, including the UNESCO,[5] over 250 universities around the world, the World Conservation Union of IUCN, the Indian National Capital Territory of Delhi, the 2001 U.S. Conference of Mayors, and dozens of youth organizations.
Various groups from several religions support the Earth Charter. The Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations representing over 1000 Unitarian Universalist congregations in the United States supports the measure. The official body of the Baha'i Faith religion reacted by saying "While not officially endorsing the Earth Charter, the Baha'i International Community considers the effort toward drafting it and activities in support of its essential objectives to be highly commendable, and it will continue to participate in related activities, such as conferences, forums and the like." The World Pantheist Movement, which supports a naturalistic view of religion, endorses the plan. The Leadership Conference of Women Religious, a Catholic organization in the United States approved the measure in 2004. The Diocese of Newark (New Jersey, USA), an Episcopalian Christian organization, recently endorsed the Earth Charter.
Mayor Hsu of Tainan, a city of 750,000 in Taiwan, endorsed the charter in 2007. The cities of Corvallis (Oregon, USA), Berkeley (California, USA), Pickering (Canada) and 21 towns in Vermont (USA) have endorsed the measure. Nine other towns in Vermont rejected measures endorsing the Earth Charter.
Engineers Without Borders, an international association whose mission is to help its member groups assist poor communities in their respective countries and around the world, also endorses the Earth Charter. The Green Party of Botswana supports the plan. The African Conservation Foundation describes the Earth Charter movement as a "partner".
In the UK, Bournemouth Borough Council endorsed the Charter in 2008.
The Charter has received opposition from several groups. For example, in the United States, members of religious groups, such as the Religious Right have objected to the document on the grounds that it is secular, and espouses socialism.[citation needed] In addition, some conservatives cite an informal comment by Mikhail Gorbachev that the document is "a kind of Ten Commandments" and point to the fact that at the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, South Africa, a copy of the document was placed symbolically in an "Ark of Hope" — an independent project by the American artist Sally Linder. A number of conspiracy theorists claim that the founders of the Earth Charter are attempting to establish a global super-state to enforce the Charter.
Earth Charter International, the organization responsible for promoting the Charter, states in its literature that the Earth Charter is respectful and inclusive of all religious traditions. They say that the Charter itself makes no statements to support these claims of intent to supplant any of the world's religions or to create a world government. ECI asserts that the Charter is a statement of common ethical values towards sustainability, that recognizes humanity's shared responsibility to the Earth and to each other.

La Carta della Terra è una dichiarazione di valori e princìpi etici fondamentali, approvata a livello internazionale, che si propone di costruire una società globale giusta, sostenibile e pacifica nel XXI secolo. Redatta sulla base di un processo di consultazione globale, ed approvata da organizzazioni rappresentative di milioni di persone, la Carta “ha lo scopo di ispirare in tutti i popoli un senso di interdipendenza globale e di responsabilità condivisa per il benessere di tutta la famiglia umana, della grande comunità della vita e delle generazioni future”. Si appella all’umanità per promuovere una collaborazione globale in una svolta critica della storia. La visione etica della Carta della Terra suggerisce che la protezione dell’ambiente, i diritti umani, lo sviluppo umano equo e la pace sono interdipendenti ed indivisibili. Lo scopo della Carta è di fornire un nuovo quadro di riferimento per riflettere ed affrontare questi temi. La Carta è promossa dall’organizzazione non governativa Earth Charter Initiative.
Storia
L’idea di una Carta della Terra nacque nel 1987, quando la Commissione Mondiale delle Nazioni Unite su Sviluppo e Ambiente raccomandò la stesura di una nuova Carta che guidasse la transizione verso lo sviluppo sostenibile. Nel 1992, in occasione del Summit della Terra di Rio de Janeiro, l’allora Segretario Generale Boutros Boutros-Ghali sollecitò nuovamente la stesura della Carta, ma il momento per una simile dichiarazione non fu ritenuto adatto. La Dichiarazione di Rio costituì la dichiarazione del consenso ottenibile in quel momento. Nel 1994, Maurice Strong (Presidente del Summit della Terra) e Mikhail Gorbachev, attraverso le organizzazioni da loro fondate (rispettivamente, il Consiglio della Terra e la Green Cross International), rilanciarono la Carta della Terra come iniziativa della società civile, con l’ausilio del governo olandese.

Stesura

Il testo finale della Carta della Terra venne approvato nel marzo 2000 durante il meeting internazionale della Commissione della Terra presso il quartier generale dell’UNESCO, a Parigi. Il suo lancio ufficiale venne celebrato con una cerimonia al Palazzo della Pace dell’Aia (Paesi Bassi). Alla cerimonia partecipò la Regina Beatrice dei Paesi Bassi.
Contenuti
Il documento consta di circa 2.400 parole ed è diviso in sezioni (definiti pilastri) che enunciano sedici princìpi fondamentali contenenti sessantuno articoli. Il documento si apre con un preambolo e termina con una conclusione intitolata “Uno sguardo al futuro”.
Preambolo
“Ci troviamo ad una svolta critica nella storia della Terra, in un momento in cui l'umanità deve scegliere il suo futuro. A mano a mano che il mondo diventa sempre più interdipendente e fragile, il futuro riserva allo stesso tempo grandi pericoli e grandi opportunità. Per progredire, dobbiamo riconoscere che, pur tra tanta straordinaria diversità di culture e di forme di vita, siamo un’unica famiglia umana e un'unica comunità terrestre con un destino comune. Dobbiamo unirci per costruire una società globale sostenibile fondata sul rispetto per la natura, i diritti umani universali, la giustizia economica ed una cultura di pace. A questo scopo, é imperativo che noi tutti, popoli della Terra, dichiariamo le nostre responsabilità gli uni verso gli altri, nei confronti della grande comunità degli esseri viventi e delle generazioni future.”
Princìpi
I quattro pilastri ed i sedici princìpi della Carta della Terra sono:
I.Rispetto e cura per la Comunità della Vita
1. Rispetta la Terra e la vita, in tutta la sua diversità.
2. Prenditi cura della comunità vivente con comprensione, compassione e amore.
3. Costruisci società democratiche che siano giuste, partecipative, sostenibili e pacifiche.
4. Tutela i doni e la bellezza della Terra per le generazioni presenti e future.
II. Integrità Ecologica
5. Proteggi e restaura l’integrità dei sistemi ecologici terrestri, con speciale riguardo alla diversità biologica ed ai processi naturali che sostentano la vita.
6. Previeni il danno come migliore misura di protezione ambientale e, quando le conoscenze sono limitate, sii cauto.
7. Adotta sistemi di produzione, consumo e riproduzione che conservino la capacità rigenerativa della Terra, i diritti umani e il benessere delle comunità.
8. Sviluppa lo studio della sostenibilità ecologica e promuovi il libero scambio e l’applicazione diffusa delle conoscenze così acquisite.
III. Giustizia Economica e Sociale
9. Elimina la povertà: un imperativo etico, sociale ed ambientale.
10. Assicurati che le attività economiche e le istituzioni promuovano a tutti i livelli lo sviluppo umano in modo equo e sostenibile.
a. Promuovi l’equa distribuzione della ricchezza all’interno delle nazioni e tra le nazioni.
b. Accresci le risorse intellettuali, finanziarie, tecniche e sociali a disposizione dei Paesi in via di sviluppo, liberandoli dall’oneroso debito internazionale.
c. Assicurati che il commercio promuova un uso sostenibile delle risorse, la tutela dell’ambiente e standard di lavoro ottimali.
d. Richiedi alle corporazioni multinazionali e alle organizzazioni finanziarie internazionali di agire in modo trasparente per il bene comune e chiamale a rispondere delle conseguenze delle loro attività.
11. Afferma l’uguaglianza tra i sessi e la giustizia come essenziali per lo sviluppo sostenibile e garantisci l’accesso universale all’istruzione, all’assistenza sanitaria e alle opportunità economiche.

14. Integra nell’istruzione formale e nella formazione permanente le conoscenze, i valori e le capacità necessarie per un modo di vivere sostenibile.
15. Tratta ogni essere vivente con rispetto e considerazione.
16. Promuovi una cultura della tolleranza, della non violenza e della pace.
Reazioni
La Carta è stata formalmente approvata da organizzazioni rappresentative di milioni di persone, compresa l’UNESCO, da oltre 250 università nel mondo, dall’Unione Internazionale per la Conservazione della Natura, dal Territorio Nazionale della Capitale di Dehli (India), dalla U.S. Conference of Mayors del 2001 e da dozzine di organizzazioni studentesche.
Molti gruppi appartenenti a diversi credi religiosi supportano la Carta della Terra, come la Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations, che rappresenta oltre 1000 congregazioni religiose affiliate negli Stati Uniti. La comunità religiosa indiana Baha'i Faith ha affermato che “sebbene non abbia approvato ufficialmente la Carta della Terra, la comunità internazionale Baha'i Faith considera l’impegno per la sua stesura e le attività a supporto dei suoi obiettivi essenziali come altamente lodevoli e continuerà a partecipare alle attività connesse come conferenze, forum e simili". La Carta ha ricevuto opposizione da parte di diversi gruppi. Nel suo materiale informativo, Earth Charter International (ECI), l’organizzazione responsabile della promozione della Carta, afferma che la Carta della Terra rispetta ed include ogni tradizione religiosa ed obietta che la Carta in sé non fa dichiarazioni a sostegno di queste affermazioni di intenti per sostituire qualunque religione del mondo o creare un governo mondiale. Source text - English Photovoltaic (PV) Modules
The Photovoltaic (PV) generator will consist of “XXX Polycrystalline” modules, with a life cycle of over 25 years without any significant performance deterioration.
Warranty on mechanical defects: 10 years.
Warranty on performances after 10 years: 90%. Warranty on performances after 25 years: 80%.
Voltage values at the various working temperatures (minimum, maximum and regular) fall into the acceptability range allowed by the Inverter.
Supplied modules will be equipped with by-pass diodes. Each module’s string will be equipped with a blocking diode to isolate each string from the others in case of accidental shading, failure etc..
Modules’ support structures
Modules will be mounted on stainless steel supports. Anchoring of the structure will be ensured by restoring the watertight characteristics of the existing coverage and will resist to windblows up to 80 km/h speed. Choice of the support structure’s type will be determined based on the characteristics of the existing coverage.
Conversion group
Conversion group is made by the static converter (Inverter).
DC/AC converter allows to trasfer power from the PV field to the distribution network, in accordance with the applicable technical and safety regulatory requirements. Voltage and power input values of the system are compatible with values of the PV field, while frequency and voltage output values are compatible with values of the distribution network connected to the system.
Main characteristics of the conversion group are as follows:
Compliance with general requirements on EMC and limitations of RF emissions:CEI 110-1, CEI 110-6, CEI 110-8.
Network disconnection protection for values outside threshold voltage and network frequency, and for overpower failure, in compliance with CEI 11-20 requirements as well as requirements set by local power company. Protections' automatic reset for auto-start set up.
CE-mark compliance.
Protection range suitable for location near the PV unit (IP65).
Declaration of conformity to the applicable technical requirements, issued by manufacturer, with references to type tests performed on the components by an authorized Certification body.
Input voltage range compatible with PV generator's output voltage.
Maximum efficiency: 90% at 70% of nominal power.
Electric panels
DC panel: panel will be installed upstream of each converter for measurement and monitoring of the generator’s output data.
AC parallel panel: will be installed in a box located downstream of the static converters for measurement, connection and monitoring of the inverter’s output data. The network system interface and the output counter of the electricity distribution company will be installed in this box.
Electric cables and wiring
Electric wiring will be performed with insulated copper connection wires with the following characteristics:
Copper core sections with 1,5mm x 1A rate;
FG7-type, if outdoor or in underground conduits;
N07V-K, if in indoor building conduits.
Wires will be in accordance to requirements set forth by CEI 20-13, CEI20-22II and CEI 20-37 I, I.M.Q. mark, UNEL core coloring requirements, 4 kV isolation range.

Strutture di sostegno dei moduli
I moduli verranno montati su dei supporti in acciaio inox. Gli ancoraggi della struttura saranno praticati avendo cura di ripristinare la tenuta stagna dell'attuale copertura, e dovranno resistere a raffiche di vento fino alla velocità di 80 km/h. La scelta della tipologia della struttura di sostegno sarà realizzata in base al tipo di copertura.
Gruppo di conversione
Il gruppo di conversione è composto dal convertitore statico (Inverter). Il convertitore c.c./c.a. utilizzato è idoneo al trasferimento della potenza dal campo fotovoltaico alla rete del distributore, in conformità ai requisiti normativi tecnici e di sicurezza applicabili. I valori della tensione e della corrente di ingresso di questa apparecchiatura sono compatibili con quelli del rispettivo campo fotovoltaico, mentre i valori della tensione e della frequenza in uscita sono compatibili con quelli della rete alla quale viene connesso l’impianto.
Le caratteristiche principali del gruppo di conversione sono:
Rispondenza alle norme generali su EMC e limitazione delle emissioni RF: conformità norme CEI 110-1, CEI 110-6, CEI 110-8.
Protezione per la sconnessione dalla rete per valori fuori soglia di tensione e frequenza della rete e per sovracorrente di guasto in conformità alle prescrizioni delle norme CEI 11-20 ed a quelle specificate dal distributore elettrico locale. Reset automatico delle protezioni per predisposizione ad avviamento automatico.

Quadro di parallelo lato corrente alternata: si prevede di installare un quadro di parallelo in alternata all’interno di una cassetta posta a valle dei convertitori statici per la misurazione, il collegamento ed il controllo delle grandezze in uscita dagli inverter. All’interno di tale quadro, sarà inserito il sistema di interfaccia alla rete ed il contatore in uscita della Società distributrice dell’energia elettrica.
Cavi elettrici e di cablaggio
Il cablaggio elettrico avverrà per mezzo di cavi con conduttori isolati in rame con le seguenti prescrizioni:
Sezione delle anime in rame in ragione di 1,5mm x 1 A;
Tipo FG7, se in esterno o in cavidotti su percorsi interrati;
Tipo N07V-K, se all’interno di cavidotti di edifici.
I cavi saranno a norma CEI 20-13, CEI20-22II e CEI 20-37 I, marchiatura I.M.Q., colorazione delle anime secondo norme UNEL, grado d'isolamento di 4 kV.
