Source text - English What is immunisation?
Immunisation is a way of protecting against serious infectious diseases. Once we have been immunised, our bodies are better able to fight those diseases if we come into contact with them.
When should my baby be immunised?
It is important that your baby has their immunisations at the right age – the first ones are given at two months old. They will be given further doses of these immunisations when they are three months old and four months old. Other immunisations
are given between 12 and 13 months of age, then at three years and four months of age or soon after (before your child starts school), see the table on the back cover of this leaflet. Between 12 and 18 years of age they will be offered further immunisations.
What happens at the appointment?
The doctor or nurse will explain the immunisation process to you, and answer any questions you have. The vaccine is injected into the muscle of the child’s thigh or the upper arm after
12 months of age. Rotavirus vaccine is given as drops by mouth.
What if I missed the appointment?
If you missed the appointment or delayed the immunisation, make a new appointment. You can pick up the immunisation schedule where it stopped without having to start again. Rotavirus vaccine can be given at three and four months or
at two and four months, if neccessary.

La vaccination permet de se protéger contre les maladies infectieuses graves. Une fois vacciné, notre corps résiste mieux aux maladies avec lesquelles il entre en contact.
Quand mon bébé doit-il être vacciné?
Il est essentiel que votre enfant se fasse vacciner à l’âge adéquat – les premiers vaccins sont administrés à deux mois. A trois et quatre mois, d’autres doses de ces vaccins lui seront administrées. Puis entre le 12ème et 13ème mois et à trois ans et quatre mois ou juste après (juste avant l’entrée à l’école), d’autres vaccins seront administrés, voir le tableau au dos de cette brochure. D’autrès vaccins lui seront proposés entre 12 et 18 ans.
Comment se déroule le rendez-vous?
Le médecin ou l’infirmière vous expliquera la procédure de vaccination et répondra à vos questions. Le vaccin est injecté dans le muscle de la cuisse de votre enfant ou dans son bras s’il a plus de 12 mois. Le vaccin contre le rotavirus est administré par gouttes par voie orale.
Et si je manque un rendez-vous?
Si vous manquez un rendez-vous ou si vous avez pris du retard sur le calendrier vaccinal, prenez un autre rendez-vous. Un retard dans le calendrier de vaccinations n’implique pas obligatoirement de recommencer toutes les injections depuis le début. Si besoin, le vaccin contre le rotavirus peut être administré à trois et quatre mois, ou à deux et quatre mois.
