Bio
I'm a polyglot who speaks perfect Dutch and English, and masters the Spanish language as well. I was raised multilingual, my mother who is Colombian taught me Spanish and English and my father who is Dutch taught me Dutch and English.Aside from the mastery of these three languages, in school I've also learned French and German. Having had to learn so many languages myself, I'm well aware of how difficult the task can be. That a language is not simply knowing the vocabulary, the grammar rules, etc. But in order to master one, you must also develop a feeling for the language, especially when languages are not very related (the problem with Spanish being a Latin-based language and English being Anglo Saxon one.)

When it comes to teaching languages, I have more than three years of experience in teaching the English language. I started out helping people in language exchange meetings, just as a social activity and gradually moved on to teaching it professionally. My first job as an English teacher was at American School Way in Bogota in 2014, an institute where I’ve worked at for about 15 months. During this period of time until this day, I have also taught private classes (not only English but Dutch and Spanish as well). Later on, I have worked at an institute called E3 English and GOAL English, giving mainly classes in companies, traveling throughout the city of Bogota (I’ve also taught TOEFL and IELTS). My experience with languages, however, does not limit itself to teaching. In my free time, I do translations for clients who contact me online (mainly Fiverr, profile: gabrielwoerkom). The three languages I translate are Spanish, English, and Dutch.
When it comes to my diplomas and certificates. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology (I graduated from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2013). And when I started to teach languages I did a proficiency test in 2015 (MET; C1) and the same year at the British Council I did the exam for the TKT. Furthermore, I have what is called in Colombia a ‘carta laboral’ from all three companies mentioned (E3, GOAL and American School Way), including a recommendation letter from all three of them.
