English to Chinese: So You Sold Your Company For Millions, What Next? Detailed field: Internet, e-Commerce
Source text - English What would you do next if you sold your company to an Internet giant for millions of dollars? Existing examples show 4 different types of Internet millionaires:
* Serial entrepreneurs - keep doing the same
* Dreamers - expand their horizons
* Midas - invest and help multiple entrepreneurs grow new businesses
* Consistents - stick with their jobs
Now let's look into each of these types and illustrate them with some famous examples.
Translation - Chinese 当你将自己的公司以数百万美元的价格卖给了互联网巨头,下一步你又打算要做什么呢?面对这个问题,现有的例子向我们展现了四种不同类型的互联网亿万富翁:
English to Chinese: The Wonderful World of Apple Computers Detailed field: Computers (general)
Source text - English At a glance Apple has got it all - a better product, die hard fans, top-notch marketing, funny commercials and an amazing set of companion products. Since Steve Jobs returned in 1997, the company has been on an impeccable comeback run. The stock charts below clearly reflect the fact that Apple executes quickly and correctly, while Microsoft has been having problems lately.
Translation - Chinese 粗略地看来,苹果公司似乎已经拥有了一切 —— 更棒的产品、忠实到了极致的消费群、顶尖的市场营销战略、有趣的商业广告,以及一系列令人叹为观止的产品组合。自从1997年史蒂夫·乔布斯回归以来,苹果公司就一直处于一条无可挑剔的恢复上升曲线之中。下面的这张股价走势图,清晰地反映出了苹果公司正处于快速而正确地“康复”之中,而与之同时,微软公司却麻烦不断。
English to Chinese: Future scalability of Windows Vista Detailed field: Computers: Systems, Networks
Source text - English IPv6 is an Internet Protocol upgrade that promises to dramatically increase the number of viable addresses, and it's native in Vista and Longhorn. The explosion of devices and other potential IP-addressable objects such as radio frequency identification chips means the Internet will someday run out of IP addresses. The current version supports only about 4.3 billion devices--fewer than the number of people on the planet. IPv6, on the other hand, will support 340 undecillion devices (or 340 with 36 zeros after it). IPv6 should also be more resistant to port scanning attacks prevalent today.
The Vista and Longhorn networking stack was rewritten from scratch, allowing for native support for IPv6. The upgrade to IPv6 networks is happening now and will take several years, so there's going to be a long period of time in which IPv4 and IPv6 networks will run side by side, meaning that Vista and Longhorn can intelligently switch protocols to chat with each other over the network.
