Definition from
Wikipedia:
A housekeeping gene is typically a constitutive gene that is required for the maintenance of basal cellular function, and are found in all human cells.[1][2] Although some housekeeping genes are expressed at relatively constant levels(such as HSP90 and Beta-actin), other housekeeping genes may vary depending on experimental conditions.
Example sentences:
Here, the non-regulation of seven housekeeping genes (beta-tubulin, cyclophilin, actin, elongation factor 1-alpha (ef1alpha), 18S rRNA, adenine phosphoribosyl transferase (aprt), and cytoplasmic ribosomal protein L2) during biotic (late blight) and abiotic stresses (cold and salt stress) was tested on potato plants using geNorm software. (National Center for Biotechnology Inform)
An inherent assumption in the use of housekeeping genes is that expression of the genes remains constant in the cells or tissues under investigation. Although exceptions to this assumption are well documented, housekeeping genes are of value in fully characterized systems. (American Physiological Society)
The researchers propose that many other housekeeping genes in addition to HPRT may also be found to regulate important developmental pathways. (MediLexicon International Ltd)

管家基因
Definition from
