Explanation: IMHO Shai is wrong here. Britannica tells us that "drill collar" is synonymous to "drill pipe" and it is used for oil drilling: http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/171625/drill-colla... The Hebrew Academy glossary in turn says that the Hebrew term for "drill pipe" is "מוט קדיחה" but I found "צינור קידוח" is more prevalent in use. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 5 hrs (2009-03-15 21:53:52 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- In your oil drilling context - I'm even more certain. |

-------------------------------------------------- Note added at 22 hrs (2009-03-16 14:58:09 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- http://www.glossary.oilfield.slb.com/Display.cfm?Term=drill ... http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/etools/oilandgas/illustrated_glossa... http://www.petrodrillingtools.com/ I disagree with Ron's comment about the fact that drill collar and pipe are the same. From what I learned there is a distinction between a Drill pipe and Drill collar. The collar just adds weight to the drill pipe - attached to it in some way (screwed into it probably) - however, it seems as a separate component from the drill pipe itself. |
