Sorry, this page is under construction. Atvainojiet,
šī lappuse atrodas izgatavošanas stadijā.

Peer comment(s):

neutral zigurdsg : OK, but you could say "mēs pašlaik gatavojam šo lappusi". "izgatavot" is a perfective form, implying work has finished
1 hr
izgatavošana here refers to the process, not result. E.g., lapas izgatavošana ir darbietilpīgs process

Sorry, \"Atvainojamies, šī lappuse tiek pārtaisīta\" instead of \"Atvainojiet, šī lappuse tiek pārtaisīta\".

tiek izstrādāta // tiek veidota
Anyway without \"......stadijā\"

To zigurdsg: When you say \"mēs pašlaik gatavojam šo lappusi\" You put accent on you yourself as wemmaster (mēs) - it`s not the best...
To mabeltins: When you say \"vēl nav pabeigta\" (unfinished), you put accent on this negation NAV...
To others: any \"......stadijā\" points to russian \"V stadii ....\"

And sorry once more :( Of course, \"lapa\" instead of \"lappuse \".

Samples of \"tiek izstrādāta\" - you see, that at least first is governement site ..........gov.lv http://www.rppp.gov.lv/latviski/struktura_nolikums.htm

http://www.e-risinajumi.lv/
http://jzskudra.times.lv/ also contains \"under construction\"
..........

Samples with \"tiek pārtaisīta\" and \"tiek pārveidota\": - BUT OK, it`s mean \"under repeated construction\" - for cases, when you want such expression :)

To vdv: prostoi poisk po saitam pokazivajet: \"tiek veidota\" vsrecaetsja casce, no \"tiek izstrādāta\" ispolzuet bollee serjozie polzovatelji (gossektor), tak kakoj variant vibratj - Vam ressatj :)

--------------------------------------------------
Note added at 2003-02-08 23:41:25 (GMT)
--------------------------------------------------

Raznica mezdu \"izstrādāt\" i \"veidot\":
1. razrabativatj (ot rabota)
2. sdelatj / konstruirovatj / ...
Tut i objasnenie: gossektor delaet stavku na to, cto oni rabotajut, a vsje ostalnie zanimaetsja \"isskustvom radi udovolstvija\" :)))

And at the end: complete sentence:
\"Atvainojamies, šī lapa tiek izstrādāta\" or \"Atvainojamies, šī lapa tiek veidota\" with any type of modifications (see links)

--------------------------------------------------
Note added at 2003-02-09 01:02:30 (GMT)
--------------------------------------------------

Fonetically 1. sentence seems better (for me...). Waiting for response from others :)

Some other (not so popular) expressions :)
tiek gatavota // tiek radīta // tiek taisīta // top
Peer comment(s):

neutral Olga Judina : pārtaisīt - alter, make ove etc. It doesn't include creation from scratch.

OK, but any "construction" is also "repeated construction" - you replace blank page with something more... :)
disagree American_Latvian professor (X) : The translation is incorrect because it implies repeated construction; passive voice is bad style.
36 mins
OK, but in some cases (for example CV) passive is to be preferred to active. Globally, homepage is a CV of firm :)
disagree zigurdsg : Professor is right. Active is to be preferred to passive. Also, "pārtaisīt" means "refashion" or "remake". Only correct if there has been a previous version.

Atvainojiet, šī lapa vēl nav pabeigta.

LZA terminoloģijas komisija vēl nav pieņēmusi terminu. Uzskatu, ka šeit var diezgan brīvi improvizēt.
