I have to put c/l 1 as this is only a guess, but I think it does at least convey the right meaning, which may help others to find the correct formulation in FR.
It means that the payment (and 'cash' here simply has the sense of 'règlement au comptant', it doesn't literally mean physical money) has no invoice for it to be assigned to.

Perhaps the verb 'imputer' is more appropriate for this context — but I don't know if this can be used for a payment?

: 1) 'cash' doesn't mean 'espèces' here 2) the 'facture' has been a pro-forma, and hence has been paid (but I assume to satisfy the system, it possibly has to be marked as already paid) — details are system-dependent, but the idea is there.

Thanks - "en espèces" might not be the meaning here but the sentence as it stands in the explanation box conveys the meaning IMHO

: Le règlement est reçu avant l'émission de la facture : dans ce cas le règlement est saisi mais ne fait pas référence à une facture. Une fois la facture produite, le règlement reste à rapprocher de la facture ... On a le choix !
