¿Cómo traducirían "other traditional literature"? Lo estoy traduciendo como géneros literarios tradicionales.
Y el autor me dice lo siguiente:
I'm not working with "traditional literary genres." That makes it sound like no literature in these genres is being produced today, and that's not true.
And I'm not working with "traditional literatures." That makes it sound like I'm hunting out dead literary traditions, and that's not true either.
I'm working with "traditional literature," singular, any genre, worldwide -- literature that has come down to us from the past. The phrase may seem strange to you because it is uncommon, and it may make you wonder exactly what I'm getting at, but it's what I call what I work with.
So, in that spot, I would like to use

Y a mí me parece que yo tengo razón, pero ya estoy tan embolada con eso de que consulta a Google que ya no sé más qué pensar.

Respondiendo a tu pregunta, he utilizado "reelaborar" en mis ejemplos, porque es un término recogido por la RAE en el DLE.
El término "renarrar" no figura en el DLE pero existe y se puede utilizar sin problema.

Yo los he encontrado en tesis universitarias, pero no sé si los términos estén difundidos. La traducción que me arroja Google para reelaborar es rework. Y entonces el autor dice que eso no es. |

Hay discusión terminológica y estilística/estética sobre géneros, si existen o se practican e incluso habría algún purista que rechazaría o rehuiría del término "literatura"
Se especializa en renarraciones de cuentos populares y otra literatura tradicional.
Se especializa en reelaboraciones [más idiomático] de cuentos populares y otra literatura tradicional.
Funciona y condice con lo que plantea de que no se trata de género o géneros sino de una práctica general (si se me permite el retruécano).
"Otras formas de literatura tradicional" puede ser una salida intermedia, más indefinida o sugerente que géneros.
Pero lo mejor, "otra...".
