Spanish term

encaje de hilo

Spanish to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
This is actually from a risk of excluded risks in an insurance policy (Spain), and I suspect there's more to it than simply "thread lace". I found "gimp lace" but I'm not sure.

"Encajes de hilo, bordados o tejidos con metales finos y blondas de legítima seda."

Thanks.

Personalmente, no le encuentro ningún problema a tu opción de "thread lace", considerando el resto de la frase no parece haber ningún significado "oculto".

tatted lace

As far as I can gather, encaje de hilo refers to the technique. Please see reference below where "tatting" has been described as "encaje de hilo" the product is called "tatted lace" (please see Wikipedia ref)

I have no time to double check that this is indeed the correct translation, but if you do, just check the methods for making encaje de hilo and tatted lace on other websites and see if they coincide.

neutral tristar : For the sake of generality I would rather use "thread lace". In Spanish, "hilo" is sometimes used for "linen" (flax thread), but it always means thread.
