forzantes

Spanish to English Science Engineering (general) Juanelo Turriano\\\\\\\'s inventions during the reign of Charles I
Hello,

This concerns an invention of Juanelo Turriano who designed a device to transport water up a slope from the river Tajo to Toledo...

There are very few instances of this word...I am wondering if it means "pushing mechanisms"...

Thank you!

Thank you everybody for your help here!

I think too that "forzantes" could = pumps

I would be grateful for some contributions from Engineers!

Thank you!

I think "tirantes" = levers, here

Spanish term (edited): tirantes y forzantes

rods and levers

Based on what I see here: http://www.plataformasinc.es/index.php/esl/Galeria-multimedi...

-->
a system of rods and levers

There's supposed to be an animated 3D simulation here, but it takes too long to download to this part of the world (snif...): http://www.plataformasinc.es/index.php/esl/Galeria-multimedi...

articulated beams

The drawing shows a series of trapezoidal articulated mechanisms. One beam pulls while the other pushes.

Note from asker:
The diagram is brilliant but "rods and levers" would fit the bill more here, I believe...

agree Julio Bereciartu : That´s right.

I think "cranks" for tirantes...
