Spanish term

sacarte a los medios

Spanish to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters Song
This is from a song by Gabinete Caligari (La Culpa fue del Cha Cha Cha - link below). It has been translated as "to get you away from there" and I am not sure this is correct. I assume this is another bullfighting term? And I am thinking that "to get you onto the dance floor" might be more appropriate.

Saliste a la arena del night club
y yo te recibí con mi quite mejor
Estabas sudadita
pues era una noche que hacía calor
Te invité a una copita
y tú me endosaste el primer revolcón

Tenías querencia a la barra
y tuve que tomar tres puyazos de ron
para sacarte a los medios
con el beneplácito de la afición
que con olés me animaba
mientras me arrimaba a tan brava mujer

Thank you very much. Unfortunately, I need this is a hurry. Rush job.

Discussion

Nikki Graham (asker) Dec 19, 2007:
The song needs to be translated so that the client can understand it and decide whether to use the original version or not. Therefore, I'm more concerned with meaning.

pull you out to the dance floor

In this case, that is what I always understood from this song.

I use "pull out" or "drag you to" since it is a little bit against the will of the lady: she was not interested on him, just by the bar,...

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Again, you have all healped enormously and thanks very much. In the end I did use drag, for that extra "edge". Happy Xmas and New Year and sorry I have to choose just one!"

to take you onto the dance floor / (to get up the courage) to ask you to dance

I had to drink drinks of Rum to get the courage up to ask you to go to the dance floor with me to dance

This is what it appears to say

agree Victoria Porter-Burns : either LisaMac's suggestion or 'to ask you to dance' I would say

take you to the middle of the bar

in the bullfighting, there are bad bulls that prefer to stay closed to the wall. the good bulls get out into the middle of the sand...

I have put a web with a "toros dictionary", maybe it can help more than me...

do you have to sing it after the translation??

;-)
