Spanish term

filosindicalismo

Spanish to English Other Government / Politics current affairs
I encountered this term in an opinion piece on the U.S. election, etc., in a Mexican publication. I'm somewhat familiar with syndicalism over the past century or two, but I have been unable to find anything helpful for "filosindicalismo."
Here's the paragraph in which it occurs:
The only thing I came up with was, working off the basic meaning of "filo" = "edge" or "brink," that maybe the meaning is "on the verge of syndicalism," or perhaps "almost-syndicalism."
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Syndicalism vs. unionism I think there is a legitimate distinction made between Syndicalism & unionism, at least in formal historical writing - not all unionists are Syndicalists, in the strict sense.
That said, I think that you guys are both right, that in this context the meaning is more along the lines of "pro-union," or friend of the workers. Thanks, Helena, for the supporting background info.

WASHINGTON — President-elect Joe Biden's campaign began at a union hall in Pittsburgh, a city with a deep ties to organized labor, and it ended nearby with an election-eve promise to be "the most pro-union president you've ever seen."

Altogether, they’re the most pro-labor campaign planks of any Democratic presidential nominee in generations. Biden is endorsed by every major national union, including the national AFL-CIO and all its affiliates. If he wins, they’ll work to hold him to the following promises:

Biden's apparent pro-unionism?

Agree with Phil's interpretation, one option is:

Thanks I think the idea is that Biden is a friend of the workers.
Incidentally my own name, Philip, means friend of horses.
Thomas Walker (asker) Nov 15, 2020:
TLC TLC is the Spanish acronym for "Tratado de libre comercio," (sometimes "Tratado de Libre Comercio de América del Norte, TLCAN"), i.e., NAFTA in English.
philgoddard Nov 15, 2020:
It means "friend of"

But I'm not sure how I'd translate your word, or even what the text is about - what's TLC?

theories on unionism

Unionism reflects the way in which workers might tend to form groups.
