"ilta" is evening, not night. In english they are indeed used interchangeably in some contexts, but in Finnish they have a more distinct difference.
Setti is mostly correct, however I would still make the distinction between evening and night.. if it was "koko yö Matin kanssa" then I would say night.. because in this case the implication of spending a night versus spending an evening might be significant.. the other possibly implying "intimate relations", if you will.
