Yes, it is. The rollers are so designed to keep the belt in place. But the belt is also slightly arched to help counteract sagging in the middle.

Ok, had an in-depth look at what comes next in the text. It's THE belt that conveys slices of bread along a sandwich-making line from start to finish (through the butter spreader, under the ham slicer, etc. to the cutter at the end that chops the crust off the slices of bread). It looks like any normal, flat, straight conveyor belt. Can't work out where the 'gobbo' fits in. Could it be something to do with the rollers driving the belt?

I'm not exactly sure what it does except that it conveys slices of bread from a butter spreader to a cutter...

Pls-can we have some context? What does the belt do? Where does it go? What happens before/after this belt? Why is it a "hunchback" belt?
