tengo alguna duda con la parte final de esta frase. Gracias a quien me pueda ayudar.
contexto: It was the bad luch of the essay-film that, just as its technical moment arrived, the intellectual trends of the hour, deconstruction, post-modernism, appropiation arte, questione the validity of the single authorial voice, preferring instead to demonstrate over and over how much we are conditiones and brainwashed by the images around us. Not that these point are invalid, but they mute the essayistic voice: for if the self is nothing but a social construct and individuality a bourgeois illusion intended to mantain the status quo, then the hip, "transgressive" thing to do is satiric quotation, appropiation and collage.

Hola, te comento un poco los términos, que son específicos de la crítica literaria (postmoderna) y luego te trato di dar una traducción más o menos correcta.
hip, en teoría literaria es "relativo", es una palabra conectada con la filosofía y la cultura beat americana de los años 50. Pero significa también "ultima moda/tendencia" y creo que el autor la usa justo para jugar con el doble sentido
satiric quotation: citación, poner entre paréntesis usando una vena satírica, esto es más que parte, es justamente el alma de la cultura postmoderna. Decir lo mismo que se diría en un contexto dado, pero sacándolo de ese contexto y por ello mismo, ironizandolo
appropriation and collage: otras de las famosas tecnicas de la literatura/cine/ estetica postmoderna en general, apropiarse de diferentes "pedazos de arte (cultura, musica, cine, literatura...generos literarios, etc) y hacer con ellos un collage.
Tenes presente el "Nombre de la Rosa" de Umberto Eco?? Bien, es el texto postmoderno por excelencia... hace un copia y encola de muchos tipos de generos literarios: policial, aventuras, investigacion, novella, ciencia ficcion etc...
