Spanish term

paño

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Ships, Sailing, Maritime Marítimo
The term is part of a description of items for budget. Context: "Boyas de amarre Nº... UN(unit) 4(quantity), boya 40 cm3 UN 4, gancho de escape 150 Ton UN 4, CADENA D 3 1/8'' (and in the UNIT column it says) PAÑO (and then quantity)37. What does it refer to?

Hola Analia, supongo que no hay ninguna posibilidad de que se trate de "trapos" - paños para limpiar la grasa, etc. del barco ? Tendría gracia -
Analia Veronica (asker) Jan 22, 2007:
I thought it could be pañol too but it's paño and since it is just a description of items that's all the context i have. The quantity is 37, then there's another of 8 so I'm not sure it refers to a store room in this case. The same chain appears when it talks about rejeras de amarre. Thanks anyway
Hola Analia. ¿No será pañol? bin, locker, store, store room... Dicc. Pol. Díaz de Santos - marina.

locker

It's a storeroom, room, or locker on board a boat. I assume that in this context it would be a "chain locker" - i.e. where the anchor chain is stored.

I've seen 'paño' as a localism to mean "pane" (as in glass), but apart from the normal meanings - material, paño de lágrimas, etc., in a marine context it certainly means a locker.
Note from asker:
Thanks Peter but that's not the term for the context I have.

neutral patricia scott : If it's a typo meaning pañol. I'm not sure it is.

Thanks Patricia. I found that one too but I'm afraid that's not the term in this context.

shackle or shot

Note from asker:
