Catalan term

tocar el rebre

Catalan to English Art/Literary Idioms / Maxims / Sayings
Context:

"Tocar el rebre" is usually used to say someone is punished for something they didn't do.
I guess it's like saying "it was/he received an unfair puishment" or "he was punished unfairly" yet I was wondering if there's a special way of expressing this idea.
Once again, thank you all in advance.
Aïda

I this case at least, I think this captures the idea of "ending up on the receiving end", so to speak.

got the blame

He always ended up getting the blame for things.

One way of suggesting that it wasn't necessarily his fault, but he always ended up getting told off.

Thanks for your answer Rachael. I'm sure I'll be able to use it in the future.
