Spanish term

ciclo

Spanish to English Social Sciences Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs University degree
Agradecería información sobre cómo traducir este término, en el entendido de que hay 2 ciclos universitarios al año en la mayoría de países latinoamericanos.

Específicamente, en un CV que estoy traduciendo aparece "ciclo I". No sé si en los países de habla inglesa los ciclos son anuales o semianuales, a fin de que se entienda si en la traducción escribo simplemente ***Term I***, que es mi propuesta.

academic cycle

Here in Spain it doesn't mean semester (US) or term (British English) - that would be 'semestre'.

Here, a 'ciclo' is much longer, normally 2 academic years. I would translate it as 'academic cycle', or alternatively specify the time period in years or months or whatever.

And 'an academic year' would normally be translated as 'un curso'.

Also, I've never seen semester spelt as 'semestre' in English! A Spanish influence perhaps?
Example sentence:

academic cycle

neutral Taña Dalglish : I am not discounting yr answer. It is a valid one & I thought of it, but opted for semester- it was specific "entendido de que hay 2 ciclos universitarios al año" & it is L/America not Spain; f/more I don't believe you would say "academic cycle I/II"?

Point taken, I guess it all depends on the use of the word 'ciclo' in Latin America. Interesting that it seems to be different, because I don't think using it in that way here in Spain would be understood. Thanks for comments.
