This is the description of a pump pumping water in en out of a spa.
The association of 48 and frame is strange to me. Does 48 stands for a size? Which one then?
I would tend to believe that frame stands hier for 'casing' but I am not sure.
Could someone please give me some background info to allow me to make sense of this "48-frame motor"

The motors used for pumps and other applications have been standardized and designated by a frame size, which will the same size base frame for a particular frame size, even with the fixing holes and the size of the motor shaft to be coupled to the pump or any other equipment, which helps in replacing a faulty motor in no time. This is the reason why the frame size is mentioned and is of great significance. It is mentioned here that the pump inlet as well as pump outlet is 1-1/2 pouce.
