GREEK AND ROMAN LOVE POETRY
31:41 timestamp. I think that ((Furius)) is mentioned here, however I am not sure. I have found a reference: http://tinyurl.com/2ssovt, but I do not know, what is meant by 'one man watching another man' in this context.
MELVYN BRAGG: It’s interesting that Catullus made a wonderful--. Well, I’m told its wonderful, I haven’t read the Greek and ((Roman literature)), I’ve read it in English, translation of Sappho, and so this relationship there, Edith Hall, isn’t there?
EDITH HALL: There is. He’s making a very strong statement, his 51 is a Latin translation of her 31. Of course, the sexual politics changed, because it’s a man watching a man with woman. So everything changes when you have one man watching another man, and which is 31:41 ((Furius)).

I hear it like this:
Of course, the sexual politics change, because it’s a man watching a man with a woman. So everything changes when you have one man watching another man, and it is fierier. (= more fiery)
Not a person's name, but an adjective.

I don't know the specific reference here, but of course Sappho is noted for her lesbian themes. So I presume they are simply talking about the fact that a man (ex-lover) is watching his former woman with another man, as distinct from the previous situation in Sappho, where it was (presumably) a female ex-lover watching her girlfriend with another woman — hence why the man-watching-man (with former g/f) scenario would be a more fiery one

I think by 'fierier', they mean that the reactions between 2 men are likely to be more heated / violent ;-)

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer.
Comment: "Thank you. It must be fierier whan a man is watching a man with a woman than they used to do it in the Lesbian way."
