Swedish to English Bus/Financial Management Management training
A heading in the managerial course, and the subsequent text reads:

"att vara chef är en hierarkisk position, ledare är en roll"

Note from asker:
This was my initial choice too, except that the text goes on to discuss "chefskap" in a more specific manner as "att vara chef" (ie boss), versus the more general term of "management"which is a science in itself. Do you still think "management/manager" would be appropriate in this sense? My fault for omitting the context, sorry!

Leadership versus directorship

I would call the "chefskap" "directorship" although even an inverted sense may well work here too, ie "Directorship versus leadership", Directorship has connotations of the dictator about, it in comparison that is to leadership.
