Spanish term
zona de púlpito
Spanish to English
Tech/Engineering
Mechanics / Mech Engineering
Context: air conditioning maintenance of trains on Madrid underground. The paragraph talks about the accessibility of the AC units for the purpose of cleaning, etc. It says that the units should be in a certain place: inside the train or in an area which can be reached without the train having to move to a specific area so that the maintenance personnel can get at it.
The sentence reads: "..sin tener que pasar el tren a una zona de púlpito, evitando así el corte y reposición de la tensión de la catenaria."
Presumably, "púlpito" means like a raised area, or part of the platform?

Lift, or Hydraulic Lift, raised platform
Although Oxford provides the definition of a pulpit, I looked a bit further at a couple of other sites such as Wordreference.com, and they gave the definition of a pulpito as a plataforma, or platform. In context, the term seems to refer to what I have come to know an area in which mechanical/ construction work is done is refered to as Lift. (Hydraulic lift) Buena suerte, hope this might help.
