Spanish term

radial

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering safety goggles
In an instruction sheet for safety goggles, the text says:
"Para trabajos con la *radial* es posible la utilización de unas gafas integrales".

Is this "any" "radial" tool, or is there a specific word? Couldn't find it in the engineering glossary. Thanks.

a wee bit more context would be welcome :)

It's a "radial something", but that would need to come from the CONTEXT.

herramienta radial

If the CONTEXT cannot tell you, this would be the only alternative.
Note from asker:
There's no more context- I'm assuming it's any kind or radial tool e.g sander. Cheers.

circular saw

Gosh, I'd always translated this as circular saw, and now I'm having pause for thought. Actually once it was a sander (complete with goggles in that case). But it is definitely one of the options for you...

http://recursos.cnice.mec.es/bancoimagenes2/buscador/imagen.... Here we have a radial and here we have a sierra circular http://recursos.cnice.mec.es/bancoimagenes2/buscador/imagen....

Thanks Noni- it's been ages.

neutral Horticulturist : An "angle grinder" is actually a sort of "circular saw", but not quite the same.

angle grinder

That is what we almost always refer to as "radial". Technically in Spanish would be "amoladora angular".

It can be used for cutting, roughing and brushing metala and stone materials without using water. It can also be used for sanding. The cutting/grinding device is a disc. (I own one of these tools and I amreading right off the instructions manual).

Usually, a circular saw is mounted on a board and the material to be cut is slipped through. A "radial" (angle grinder) is not mounted on a board, but it is a hand tool: http://www.tool-net.co.uk/p-335088/makita-ga9020kd-240v-9-an...
Note from asker:
Thanks very much, but from context further down in the document I'm at a loss to know exactly what tool it is.
Thanks very much for taking the extra time to clarify things. I have changed my translation to "angle grinder", as you are so convincing. I only wish I could give you the points, but a pressing deadline made me use a "catch-all" (but wrong) translation. Hope I can return the favour sometime.

agree Shawn Keeney : I was thinking it might be a rotary tool, but your links up above look like the right answer.
