evaluation process
Hello. I am translating the description of a business evaluation process, and the following sentence appears:
Dans la mesure du possible, les renseignements recueillis auprès des différentes sources ont fait l’objet de recoupements, de manière à fonder les constats sur une **solide triangulation de l’information.**
This is my attempted translation:
Whenever possible, the information gathered from different sources was cross-checked in order to base the reports on a solid information triangulation.
But I would appreciate suggestions for a better translation of this last part of the sentence. Thank you.

Hi Nicholas,
The links below are the first two google hits: FAO is certainly good source. This is what I'd probably go with.
Cheers,

: Used figuratively here, I feel, so not necessarily (just) three.

I'd have turned it round
and said "information gathered from different sources was COMPARED in order to base the reports on (a) solid CROSS-CHECK(ing)." No need to repeat "information", or use "data" instead.
