燃料と空気（酸素かもしれませんが）の供給バランスが悪いと炎の形状が悪くなるのは家庭用のガスコンロで皆さんも経験積みだと思います。
バーナーから正しい形状の炎がでないと必要な熱量を得られない、燃料効率が悪いなどの問題が発生します。
positive/negativeの規定が文書中にあればいいのですが。
