I would say it is Serbian w. In Serbian sočno= lusciously, succulently but sočnost = also richness or (juiceness, sappiness, succulency or succulence). Maybe might help you. One Czech site is having "sočný roztok"

I looked up the author to check for some Ukrainian>Slovak heritage, but he's Czech through and through. I reckon it's a typo, then.

It looks like Russian for 'juicy' or 'lush'. I don't know it as a Czech word. It could well be a typo.

Yes, Alca, could be. The text was originally published in 1969 (Zlaty maj c. 2).

I agree with Alca....it most likely a typo....instead of "like a statue" i would perhaps use "statuesque"
