German term

Rechnungsbeauftragender

German to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) franchise agreement
Prior to posting this question, I went through the following steps:
1. check dicos
2. check rest of document to find clues
3. check KudoZ glossary
4. do online research
5. wrestle with the problem
6. ask KudoZ question, giving as much relevant context as possible and selecting appropriate categories.

But I'm still at a loss. I've used "invoice initiator" for Rechnungsveranlassender. This is a system for franchisees to send in their invoices for consulting services. Your ideas will be appreciated.

Discussion

hazmatgerman (X) Mar 23, 2009:
Sorry: "seems" & "invoicing".
hazmatgerman (X) Mar 23, 2009:
The "...beauftragter" semms to have both supervisory (geprüft) und operative function (freigegeben). Would "invoice controller" make n.s. sense here? Regards.
misterherrnau Mar 23, 2009:
Better late than never, Kim: Are these franchisees presenting invoices to the Zentrale for services rendered to and thus payable by the Zentrale (my assumption) or is the Zentrale just doing their billing for them (sending out invoices to third parties)?
Kim Metzger (asker) Mar 21, 2009:
Sloppy writer I've had to get clarifications or read the writer's mind throughout this text. I think he left out "weiteres" - ohne weiteres. And re ask question form, I think our moderators should be allowed to give repeat offenders a time-out until they have learned to become good citizens.
Cilian O'Tuama Mar 21, 2009:

Is the "ohne" superfluous (sentence 3), or is there a word missing after it?
Cilian O'Tuama Mar 21, 2009:
Those 6 steps should appear on the "ask question" form for all askers. Many come straight here without checking anywhere else beforehand.

Invoicing officer certainly exists as a noun phrase in BE as a Google search demonstrates.

In response to your note, Kim, I wonder whether they're using "BeauftragenDER" to mirror their use of "VeranlassenDER" for reasons of consistency??
Note from asker:
Yes, that is what I would use Beauftragter

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Many thanks to all of you. I chose "officer" because I was translating into US English and that's a term I'm comfortable with. I do think Beauftragender is equivalent to Beauftragter."

invoice processor

If it's the individual responsible for processing the invoices, then you may want to use "invoice processor".

Controller

As a suggestion for the interpretation, many companies employ staff for the purpose of checking, controlling the validity of an invoice before the invoice is passed on for further processing as in " regeln","kontrollieren",someone who is for this part of the invoicing process "zuständig"

accounts payable department

"Accounts payable clerk" is the term generally used in the US for a low-level accounting department employee responsible for checking the correctness of an invoice, matching it with internal supporting documentation and sending it on for final approval for payment (possibly to the controller, the term suggested by Spud Murphy). An attractive alternative in this case would be to simply use "accounts payable department."
