Spanish term
instancias internacionales
Spanish to English
Social Sciences
Tourism & Travel
Hello,
I would welcome your opinon on how the following could be translated into English: "instancias internacionales"
The context is: Lo cierto es que las instancias internacionales vinculadas al turismo, tanto las institucionals como las privadas, apenas han reaccionado hasta hace muy poco tiempo. Desde las primeras formulaciones de la Cumbre de Rio en 1992 ha existido un largo vacio (con el parentesis de la Conferencia en Djerba (2003)) hasta 2007, ano en el que la Organizacion Mundial de Turismo....."
The text is a formal article dealing with the impact of climate change on the tourism industry in Spain.
A word that comes to my mind is "innitiatives" but then this is not even remotely related to the meaning of the word given by the dictionaries I've consulted.
Thank you!

Check out this link. It's an ad for a book, but it seems to deal with exactly the same topic: http://www.amazon.fr/Tourism-Recreation-Climate-Change-Micha...

international authorities
Oxford: las más altas instancias de la nación = the highest authorities in the land.

international entities
Another option, as an alternative to "organizations."
6 hrs
International entities (organizations)
a mi juicio estos sería lo más apropiado

This phrase is probably what you found in the dictionary, meaning "at the request of, at the initiative of".
