Discussion

Jack Doughty May 30, 2009:
I believe him The Geordie (Newcastle) accent is much harder to understand than Yorkshire dialect.
Aleksey Chervinskiy May 30, 2009:
Jack, We have a guy from Yorkshire bartend in a local pub in Fort Worth, Tx. He sounds just like that :) when he puts on a thicker accent. Yet he says he can't understand "them lads from Newcastle" when they speak.
Jack Doughty May 30, 2009:
Yorkshire dialect There is a Yorkshire dialect expression "If tha wants owt doin' reet, do it thysen" (If you want anything done right, do it yourself).

Just like the Russian phrase (at least taken without specific context) it implies that anything that's done, or better yet anything that happens is better for you in the long run, even if at the moments you perceive those happenings as negative or unpleasant developments.

Thank you
Note from asker:
with "for the best" you mean "to get the best result" or "with the best care"?

Whatever you do will be for the best.
Но там народ лучше знает Russian sayings and proverbs

Есть такая поговорка в русском языке: Всё, что ни делается, - все к лучшему. Её английский эквивалент - Whatever happens, happens for the better/best.
С этой поговоркой нужно обращаться аккуратно: часто сочетание "к лучшему" почему-то переводят как "for good" и садятся при этом в калошу. Хитрость в том, что for good означает не что иное, как "навеки, навсегда". А happens все таки for the better/best, и никак иначе.

Whatever happens, it will turn out for the best.

Whatever happens, I am sure that everything would be OK.
Example sentence:

"Whatever Happens policy" you would expect nothing but the best in quality and service.
