Discussion

André Vanasse (X) Aug 31, 2009:
On a submarine, we say "discharged tube" when the torpedo has been sent.
André Vanasse (X) Aug 31, 2009:
Could it be "discarded tube", like after repairing a flat tire.
Bernard Lieber Aug 31, 2009:
I agree sounds like a bad translation - a discharge tube is an electronic device - can't see how it could be used on a bike.
Tony M Aug 31, 2009:
Quality of English? Paul, are you sure about the quality of this EN? Was it written by a native speaker, or could it possibly have been translated from some other source language?

I ask this question, because the term 'discharged tube' sounds distinctly odd to me; a tube is not something that one could readily imagine being 'discharged', whereas a 'discharge tube' is something quite different, and at first sight nothing to do with bikes!

I have a suspicion, therefore, that this may be a erroneous original translation; I rather think 'discharged' may be meant to refer to a tube that has been made lighter in some way (perhaps by being perforated with holes, for example).
