I probably should have added these there are two other diagrams: Tapicería con ranuras o Kelim and Tapicería entrelazada, which are, respectively, Slit-weave tapestry or kilim style and Interlock tapestry

Where the color areas join, the different color yarns interlock at the point where they both reverse direction. This gives the vertical joints between color areas a toothed or dovetailed appearance. The weft-faced/discontinuous weft technique is called tapestry weave.

Toothed vertical joints between color areas on a somewhat coarsely woven rug (left) and a finely woven rug (right.) Horizontal joints (parallel to wefts) are not toothed.

agree Jennifer Levey : Yes - toothed is a generic term for any 'jagged' pattern in weaving (eg: http://en.texsite.info/Dogtooth_checks_pattern;_hounds_tooth... ).
