Difficult without seeing a picture. But in BBQ season I have seen 'twists' in UK supermarkets that are very similar to the 'Grillzöpfe' I know from Germany.
And of course it is barbecue or BBQ, but not 'grilled', that is something completely different!

Braided grilled (barbecued) turkey
Braided is the term used when you cut meat or fish into long strips then braid like a pigtail. Sometimes its put on skewers
