Russian term

электротемпфер

Russian to English Tech/Engineering Other
I'm not even sure this isn't a typo - there are only 4 hits in Google.ru for this word and none for темпфер
but I don't see anything like электродемпфер in any dictionary.

It seems to be a large piece of engineering equipment weighing (or having a capacity of) several tons

Unfortunately there's no context other than Bulgaria's concern about the price for them

Since we are guessing, my take is that it's a misspelled электродемпфер or even электродемфер (which is yet another typo or possibly a variant spelling).

A couple of links where it's used:

www.bis-ltd.spb.ru/Oma/Doc/OMA-36.6.doc
http://protekt.ru/catalog/turniket003.shtml

Those two are dealing with semi-automatic gates but similar approach is also used in handling large trucks, railway carriages etc. Cases where you need somethning to close, settle or basically "touch down" softly, without shocks, rattle or impact.

Hope this helps.

electric (monorail) hoist

I believe, it's a typo. That is, the correct term is электротельфер. It really can have such capacity.
See link.
