German term
Kniegelenk eins. und seitl. liegend
German to English
Medical
Medical (general)
This phrase comes from a medical invoice for an examination performed. I believe 'eins.' is an abbreviation, but I am not sure what it is an abbreviation of. I have translated 'Kniegelenk' as 'knee joint' and 'seitl.' as 'lateral', I just need help with the 'eins.'
Many thanks

Kniegelenk einseitig und seitlich liegend (s.u.)
unilateral- "unilateral knee joint" - I think this would fit the bill for both "einseitig" and "seitlich".

: Not quite. I think "einseitig" means that only one knee was examined, and "seitlich liegend" means that the patient was lying on his/her side when the exam was performed, so "unilateral" doesn't cover it all.

It is an invoice, probably for an x-ray of a knee, one knee (r or l ?), position of p. on side results in a lateral view (r. or l.?) as opposed to a.-p. or p.-a., hence einseitig = unilateral IMHO. Further context is not given.

einseitig
eins.- should stand for einseitig.

German term (edited):
Kniegelenk einseitig und seitlich liegend
x-ray knee (joint) lateral view
is a possibility if, as Gudrun Maydorn suspects in her Discussion post, "this refers to an X-ray."

einseitig
Ich bin auch der Meinung, dass es für "einseitig" steht. Mein Übesetzungsvorschlag ist daher "unilateral"
