German term

nachheizen

German to English Tech/Engineering Engineering (general) packaging
From a PTFE welding press:

Wenn die gewünschte Temperatur erreicht ist, Strom ausschalten und das Gerät einige Minuten nachheizen lassen.

Nachheizen here means that the device continues to give off heat (in the same way as an electric cooker may be switchod off before the end of the cooking process because the remaining heat continues to cook the food in the pot).

How can I word this in a user manual?

be allowed to cool down My customer has informed me that what he meant to say was that the device should be allowed to cool down by itself (i.e. no forced cooling).

Proposed translations

1 hr

continue to give off heat

Would do the trick.

2 hrs

to release/dissipate its stored heat

This is the expression that comes to my mind after reading your explanation.
