What is more interesting here is "cónyugue de vida" - I guess the idea is that you can't just marry somebody in your dotage who is ill to get them insurance cover but does it mean 'long-term spouse' or what?

neutral  Muriel Vasconcellos: No hits on the Internet. It certainly suggests that the term is not widely used. Theory of Terminology (GTF) dictates that the most common terms be used to avoid confusion and proliferation of competing terms. If it's not out there, it's not very common.
