German term

organisatorische Erweiterung der Zuständigkeit

German to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) CV of a bank (credit research) analyst
The entire sentence reads as follows:

Eine inhaltliche bzw. organisatorische Erweiterung der Zuständigkeit sowie Aufbauarbeit betrachte ich als sportliche Herausforderung und Chance.

I would be grateful for any suggestions put forward.

Thanks and regards

Discussion

Horst Huber (X) Mar 29, 2011:
There seems to be a differentiation (inhaltlich/organisatorisch), I would think of substantive vs. administrative , and "Zuständigkeit" (assigned scope of competence) and "responsibility" are not quite the same thing; but then I am not a native speaker, and I gladly concede to those who are.

broadening the extent or scope of my responsibilities

I differ from Doublehhoo in that I don't see him as talking about taking on a different role, but expanding the scope of his present one.

expansion and diversification of my role within the scope of responsibilities

What I understand by expansion is increase in additional related functions...
By diversification I mean the person is entrusted with additional functions to the existing ones which could be unrelated.
