It's that tricky "référentiel" again. Nothing in the glossaries seems to fit (as usual for this word!)

Méthodologie des relevés
Nous mettrons en station notre appareil sur les points durs.
Nous réalisons les observations en fonction des contraintes liées aux différentes activités et entreprises présentes.
Nous contrôlerons ensuite les points éloignés de notre **référentiel** et pratiquerons au relevé tachéométrique des cibles.

For information, here is my draft:

Survey methodology
We stand our equipment on firm points.
We make the observations taking into consideration the constraints related to the various activities and companies present.

@Bourth Thanks for the confirmation - yes, I thought it probably did refer to a coordinate system. But I'm always cautious about this word - it's a right nuisance sometimes.

It's an actual physical survey, not some wishy-washy architectural form of self-abuse where référentiel might well have some intended esotero-socio-poeto-dramatugico-sociolo-artistic meaning, so I'd go with plain, down-to-earth "coordinate system".
BTW, I think they are talking about "distant points IN" that system, i.e. they will "calibrate", as it were, their instrument against known points before measuring their targets.
