Italian term

arteria polmonare media

Italian to English Medical Medical: Cardiology Referto medico
This question originates from a discussion entry on one of my earlier questions, since the entire phrase is quite important to this document, I repropose it to native english speakers.

Original:
E' presente un residuo di arteria polmonare media che finisce sull'infundibulo destro a fondo cieco.

Surgeon's explanation (said that this was a rather unusual case):
Nel Truncus tipo 1 i due rami polmonari originano dall'aorta e non c'è vestigia dell'arteria polmonare media da cui normalmente originano i rami. In questo caso pur essendo un Truncus tipo 1 c'era questo " abbozzo " di arteria polmonare media senza valvola o comunicazione con il ventricolo destro.

His suggestion then became:
Presence of a vestigial trunk of a mean pulmonary artery originating from the blind outflow tract of the right ventricle.

Does this make sense to you?
Proposed translations (English)
5 middle lobe pulmonary artery

Liset Nyland (asker) Feb 15, 2012:
You must be right, googling the Italian expression shows a drawing that confirms this.
SJLD Feb 15, 2012:
I think he might mean the pulmonary trunk or main pulmonary artery, which normally arises from the RV.

Proposed translations

Questo non cambia il fatto che l'arteria polmonare media è la middle lobe pulmonary artery.
Il chirurgo spiega che in questo caso specifico ha trovato una traccia di arteria polmonare media che normalmente non è presente nel truncus tipo 1.
Note from asker:
Non credo, stiamo parlando del cuore, non del polmone.
