Italian term

il fenomeno atmosferico

Italian to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting Painting
"Il fenomeno atmosferico pare tingersi di luce artificiale, come un tributo all'illuminazione a neon della città."

Hello everybody, i'm not sure how to render this expression (from a catalogue on contemporary paintings).
Any suggestions?
cheers :)

Sure, here's a bit of information on what the artist could be referring to:

"Sul fondo a colori un cielo surreale, [.....], il tratto azzurro tiepido si impreziosisce di una patina giallognola e preannuncia un tramonto fluorescente."

There isn't any specific event or phenomenon going on, it's mainly a light blue-pinkish sky and a grey city skyline below.
Oliver Lawrence May 18, 2012:
What is it referring to? A painted sunset? The aurora borealis? Sunbeams?

Hi Elesar, do you have any further context to what "phenomenon" the writer might be alluding?

The sky's palette appears to acquire artificial hues enhancing the city's neon-lighting.

For your convenience and comprehension, I've ' translated' the entire sentance - I feel the result is pretty close to the critic's intention.
