Yes... ...that's pretty much what I was beginning to think; though in fact, the context being unclear (avec = 'accompanied by', or directly 'on'?), I wonder it it just means that these belts are to be supplied wound on a timber 'core'? Given that I wouldn't imagine they are usually supplied on a reel of any kind, it would presumably make it a lot easier to handle. Again, really depends on the context, how big / heavy these things are. A 16 cm wooden 'thing' is relatively hefty... But then again, would it do the belts any good to be wound round something square??

Si c'est des bobines qu'on livre et qu'on a besoin de mandrins pour la manutention, voici une déf. qui pourrait être intéressante : Terme de menuiserie. Poteau de bois brut que l'on place au centre d'une colonne creuse, et qui passe au travers et maintient les plateaux ou tourtes qui y sont rapportées (pour entretenir toutes les alaises formant le fût)??? MORISOT. Donc un simple poteau de bois brut qu'on passerait au milieu des bobines ?

I wonder... ...if one or the other isn't a typo? It seems odd to me they should use 2 such similar words, whilst one or the other could easily be a typo or scanno for the other.
