Spanish to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature Julio Cortazar

Muchas gracias

who places preconceptions under the magnifying glass

I don't think the translation needs to be a forest of quotation marks.

They've been used for "dado" because they're not actually givens - they're preconceptions that can still be subjected to scrutiny. And they've been used for "bajo su lupa" because it's a metaphor, but there's no need to put metaphors in quote marks.

The sentence doesn't have a main verb in Spanish, but I think it needs one in English, eg "He was a deeply reflective man."

in which the "given" /"assumed" is seen "trough his own perspective"

Not as poetic, but hope it helps

in which the "given" manifests itself under "his magnifying glass",

Maybe the literal is better:

in which the "given" manifests itself under "his magnifying glass",

through his own perspective is more poetic, less exact, I would say....
