A condoned fail is a mark in the upper range of the fail range (usually 33-39, though this can vary slightly depending on programme: check with your Programme Board) for non-core modules. It is called ‘condoned’ because some marks in this range can still count toward your final degree classification. For three- or four-year honours degrees, a student can have up to 45 credits in the condoned fail range.
