quarter (of the year)
I'd be careful with "calendar quarter" in this context. In IT, when the expression "trimestre solare" is used, the author generally intends to stress it is not a "calendar quarter".
A "calendar quarter" is a "trimestre" starting on calendar fixed dates (quarter 1: January 1st to March 31rd; quarter 2: April 1st to June 30rd, etc.).
A "trimestre solare" is a "quarter" starting at a given date, which may or may not be that of a calendar quarter. A "trimestre solare" may start e.g. today and end when 3 months have passed starting from today. Tipically, a "trimestre solare" can start for ex. on the date following the date of approval of the financial statement.
So, the translation has to be set according to the specific context. For taxes and equivalent, "quarter of the year" will generally be a synonym of "calendar quarter", for other uses "quarter of the year" will be a more precise translation.

"Definition of 'Year'
A period of time that is comprised of 12 consecutive months. A year is a 12-month period whose start date can vary. For individual taxation purposes (for annual federal income tax returns, for example), "year" typically refers to the calendar year that begins on January 1 and ends on December 31. A fiscal year is a period that is used for corporate or government accounting purposes and the preparing of financial statements. A fiscal year might coincide with the calendar year, or the time period that it represents could begin and end on different dates (as long as it involves 12 consecutive months)".

"Definition of 'Accounting Period'
The time span in which certain financial events took place. The accounting period is generally a quarter or a year and reflects all of the financial activity that occurred during that time. However, it should be noted that even though accounting periods tend to be generically similar and encompass a like amount of time. The start and end dates of those time periods can be drastically different. Not all companies begin their fiscal year in January. Likewise, not every final quarter ends in December".
