With regard to indirect releases into water, e.g. joint treatment in industrial parks or in a municipal waste
water treatment plant, Article 2(6) of the IPPC Directive requires to guarantee an equivalent
level for the protection of the environment as a whole and the provision that the indirect release
does not lead to higher levels of pollution in the environment.
